Tiles come in all shapes, sizes, finishes and styles, so how do you know which one is right for your space? We’ve broken down the main types of tiles below to help you.
Ceramic Tiles
Can be glazed or unglazed, glazed tiles are available plain or decorated and can be used on walls and floors. A tile made from clay but permanently hardened by heat.
Porcelain Tiles
Are ceramic tiles but with very low water absorption of less than 0.5%. They are fired at about 1200oc, hard wearing and can be used on walls and floors.
Mosaic Tiles
Very small tiles usually less than 35cm, they can be glazed or unglazed and made from porcelain, ceramic, glass or natural stone. They can form patterns or shapes and is normally supplied on a mesh.
Quarry Tiles
A traditional product made from natural clay. Made similar to bricks and fired at a very high temperature. They are also thicker than ceramic/porcelain tiles. They are used for domestic, commercial and heavy
industrial situations.
